October is over already???

Warning!!!
This is another long one- I'm going to cram the whole month in here...
I can't believe October is over already. We have been so busy and to think that October really does kick off the Holiday Season!

I remember oh' 5 months ago when we started telling people that we were expecting and I remember saying that probably in October we would put a "for sale" sign in the window of my truck and list it on Craigs List. Well October sure came fast!!
On the 2nd we took my truck in to be detailed and get it ready for it's BIG listing...
Although the car wash is lots of fun the boys are both really sad about having to sell mommy's truck. I'm still in denial too...

Isn't it lovely? We did buy a sign to put in the window but for some strange reason we have failed to get it done. I know that sign is here on this desk somewhere!
During this crazy month my slacker of a husband has only worked two out of five Fridays. It has been an ongoing joke around here because it just happened to be all in one month that we needed him every Friday.
We had a community garage sale on the 15th so he took off to lift all the furniture his parents were selling. Lord knows I can't be lifting that stuff. Then on the 22nd the boys participated in "their first" Bike Rodeo. (His shirt was on the right way before he left for school).
Britton has wanted to do it every year but I haven't felt up to it. I promised him he could do it this year then of course I'm too pregnant to help, so daddy took off to help out with that.
Its lots of fun, the kids get graded on requirements for their bikes like reflectors, helmets and tire pressure.
Then they have to take skills tests and earn points. Its all for fun, then on Monday morning everyone who participated gets a metal and the ones with higher scores get awards.
Everyone can participate and lots of kids bring their bikes to school.

We took our annual trip to the pumpkin patch on the 23rd (click here to view) http://koehlerbooboo.blogspot.com/2010/10/devine-acres-farm-devine-texas.html then on the 25th we built our annual ginger bread house. Some years it is for Christmas, once we did an Easter one, and this year we did a Haunted House.
It was lots of fun. I always buy this stuff the day after the holiday because it is so much cheaper so when I pulled it out of the closet Britton started making comments about how old it is and that it was gross but he sure didn't mind eating it as we were putting it together.

In fact, its been sitting on the counter for almost ten days and he still nibbles on it every time he goes past. I really need to toss it out, but we had so much fun making it.

On the 26th we went to the Pack Meeting/Halloween party. I helped with the face painting, it was a lot of fun. Eric dressed as a pit crew member for Lightning McQueen.
I was a last minute pumpkin. Ethan was a chef.

And Britton went back to the Goofy outfit he wore a few years ago.

On the morning of the 28th I got a call from my mom and she told me my oldest brother Dee who has been sick for awhile was not doing too well and that he probably wasn't going to make it through the day. A few hours later she called to tell me that he had passed away. I felt so awful, I wanted to be with my mom so bad. This was the closest loss for her and any of my siblings in a long time. This was my moms first born, but still her baby. She had never lost a child and I just wanted to hug her. A few weeks ago my brothers and sisters were able to get up to Oregon to see him one last time before he died. I couldn't go because I'm in no condition to fly and Eddie couldn't make it because of work but he understood. The pictures below were the last time I saw my brother. August 2006 when my nephew, Justin had his first son. It has been so long. I miss my brother and I pray for my mom and his wife Katrina to have strength during this hard time.

On the 29th Eric took off yet another Friday to go to Natural Bridge Caverns with Britton's second grade class. I have looked forward to taking him there ever since he was born and again I wasn't able to help.

They had lots of fun and took lots of pictures. I know Eric has enjoyed the involvement he might not have taken in these past two weeks had I been able to help out so that is a good thing.

I love this one!

The boys also got to dress up as their favorite book character on that Friday so Britton went as a wounded kid in "Arthur's Boo Boo Book". And Ethan was a cook from "Cooking With the Cat".

On the 30th we had a carnival, chili cook off, and trunk or treat at our church. The boys had a lot of fun.

There was a moon bounce, a football toss,

a fortune teller, fishing, pumpkin bowling,

t.p. toss, and each kid got to play the piano,

and of course I helped out with the face painting there too. I love to paint kids faces.

I dressed up as a fried egg with a double yolk...

I'm actually pretty surprised with the boys this year. I bought them Mario and Luigi costumes last year when they were on sale and they both wanted to wear the other stuff out of the box. I love hanging onto old costumes so they can dress up all year long. We get so much more use out of them that way.
On Sunday "Halloween" we relaxed ALL day and called Grama to tell her HaPpY BirThDDAy! That is when it hit me that the month was in fact over!!! CRAZY!
