Lets see, where to start. My poor son, he has been through so much torment this last few months! In September we took the boys to the dentist to get their cleanings and x-rays and all that. Well it turned out that Britton's baby molars were blocking his 6 year molars from coming in and the 6 year molars were starting to grow sideways. So, they had us schedule an appointment with Ortho to have them removed. We prepped Britton for days to get him calm enough to even get to the dentist office, and a month later (that was the soonest they had) . I bought him a new movie for being brave, (Ice Age 3), took him out of school early for the appointment and starved him all day so they could do the procedure.
Everything was going fine...

He waited patiently...

They read a book while we waited... Then we were told that they would not do the extraction here because he was so young. I know he is young! THEY knew he was young! Why didn't they tell me this before we went through all the trouble? So... They referred us to a pediatric dentist. He had to have an exam, and more x-rays so they could make their own decisions for what needed to be done before they would do anything. After looking at the x-rays they had us schedule the appointment for them to pull his teeth...

Six or so weeks later, 3 days before Christmas, there we were, letting him pick out a movie, starved so his tummy would be empty (at least he didn't have to miss school this time though because it was Christmas break).

Saying goodbye to Ethan, we took him to the dentist office.

He was calm at first then they gave him some syrup to make him relax before they put him in the chair.

They put the gas mask on him and as soon as the dentist walked in the room he freaked. We waited and waited for him to calm down and finally the Dr. said he would not be able to do the extraction here in his office because Britton was too upset. We had to make yet another appointment to go to the hospital and have him sedated in order for them to pull the teeth.

They sent us on our way, told us to get him some breakfast and take him home to rest.
This was probably the only thing that kept me from getting upset. Britton was still a little woosey from the gas but he was so hungry so we bought him some food at Sonic but he couldn't stay awake to eat it...
He about dropped his food 12 times! I admit after a few times I was just doing it for fun though.
These are great!

They say 3rd times a charm so here we were again. 3 weeks later, Starved, missing a whole day of school, and struggling with an even more confused 7 year old. I like the way they did it at the hospital though. It was slow and easy. They really know how to help the kids stay calm.

First the syrup...

Then a little waiting period... The nurse took him away and they called us when he was done and waking up...

Poor thing, he went through so much just to get 2 teeth pulled.

He enjoyed the wheelchair ride though.

His pride and joy!!!
