Honey Do...

We finally got around to working on the kitchen this past weekend! Back in November we knocked out the wall between the kitchen and dining room, then we kind of put it on hold till after the holidays. We taped all the walls and put down the drop cloth and suddenly it occurred to me that if we were going to put a door in (we had talked about it in the past) that this was the time to do it. Before we painted the wall or any of that, so that is what we did.

Window...

We dropped what we were doing and got to work on it. There couldn't have been a more perfect day. It was beautiful outside.

No more window!!!

Ethan hates loud noises and I don't know why we never thought of this before but Eric gave him his sound proof ear muffs.

It did take us all day but we finaly got it done.

"We"? Who am I kidding? I didn't do any of it.

But I got right to work painting that night with Eric. We primed the walls and the next morning we broke out the color! Good thing it was a 3 day weekend!

I'm so excited! I have been planning to paint the kitchen and dining room foe ever...

It looks and feels fabulous! Its like walking into a model home. I love it!

We all love it!!!

Long Story... LONG...

Lets see, where to start. My poor son, he has been through so much torment this last few months! In September we took the boys to the dentist to get their cleanings and x-rays and all that. Well it turned out that Britton's baby molars were blocking his 6 year molars from coming in and the 6 year molars were starting to grow sideways. So, they had us schedule an appointment with Ortho to have them removed. We prepped Britton for days to get him calm enough to even get to the dentist office, and a month later (that was the soonest they had) . I bought him a new movie for being brave, (Ice Age 3), took him out of school early for the appointment and starved him all day so they could do the procedure.
Everything was going fine...

He waited patiently...

They read a book while we waited... Then we were told that they would not do the extraction here because he was so young. I know he is young! THEY knew he was young! Why didn't they tell me this before we went through all the trouble? So... They referred us to a pediatric dentist. He had to have an exam, and more x-rays so they could make their own decisions for what needed to be done before they would do anything. After looking at the x-rays they had us schedule the appointment for them to pull his teeth...

Six or so weeks later, 3 days before Christmas, there we were, letting him pick out a movie, starved so his tummy would be empty (at least he didn't have to miss school this time though because it was Christmas break).

Saying goodbye to Ethan, we took him to the dentist office.

He was calm at first then they gave him some syrup to make him relax before they put him in the chair.

They put the gas mask on him and as soon as the dentist walked in the room he freaked. We waited and waited for him to calm down and finally the Dr. said he would not be able to do the extraction here in his office because Britton was too upset. We had to make yet another appointment to go to the hospital and have him sedated in order for them to pull the teeth.

They sent us on our way, told us to get him some breakfast and take him home to rest.
This was probably the only thing that kept me from getting upset. Britton was still a little woosey from the gas but he was so hungry so we bought him some food at Sonic but he couldn't stay awake to eat it...

He about dropped his food 12 times! I admit after a few times I was just doing it for fun though.
These are great!

They say 3rd times a charm so here we were again. 3 weeks later, Starved, missing a whole day of school, and struggling with an even more confused 7 year old. I like the way they did it at the hospital though. It was slow and easy. They really know how to help the kids stay calm.

First the syrup...

Then a little waiting period... The nurse took him away and they called us when he was done and waking up...

Poor thing, he went through so much just to get 2 teeth pulled.

He enjoyed the wheelchair ride though.

His pride and joy!!!

Well lets see, where to start? Last year in May they decided it was time to build a new school. The elementary school was just getting too small to hold all the children, plus it is very old (Eric went there when he was a kid) the older classes had to use relocatable buildings and they had to go to another building for p.e. and there was no a/c in the gym.

Construction!!!

The new school was being built just across the parking lot...

It is two stories, with air conditioning in the gym and no one will have to go outside in the heat or rain to change classes.

Every once in a while we drive by to see how it is growing and take a few pictures.

I love all the beautiful trees!

Finally! Just before Christmas break they had an open house for all the students and their families.

My favorite part was the library. In the other school it was in the center of the building, it was tiny and there were no windows to see out.

Now they have computers, windows on all sides and plenty of room to move around!

The boys like the gym, it is soo huge! Oh, and the elevator was pretty exciting too.

I think the bathrooms are cool too. You see the sinks are on the outside, on the other side of the drinking fountain are the girls sinks and bathroom. Its just so open.

There is a stage in the cafeteria for the classes to put on programs and there are projectors in every classroom.

Britton's class and his new spot.

Isn't it beautiful?

So, after Christmas break the students got to come to the brand new school. Its been a few weeks now and everyone is loving it!

Ethan can't wait to go to Britton's school next year. Almost every day he asks me if he is 5 yet and if he goes to Britton's school yet.

I did cry a little the first few days like it was kindergarten all over again. I just love the new school so much.
