A little over a year ago when Ethan was about 4 months from turning 3 we bought this wonderful potty chair. Off and on for the past year we have "tried, and tried, again)...

At 3 1/2 this is all Ethan wanted to do with his underwear. In October, when I took Ethan out of daycare to focus on his potty training we were doing great. Then Christmas came along and I took all those extra hours and all our efforts went down the drain. (No pun intended!)

I may go nuts but with Christmas behind us, I made arrangements to have two weeks off so we could focus in getting it done for good. It wasn't to hard to arrange since I only work 2 days a week and Martin Luther King Jr. Day was one of those days. I marked it on the calendar and we marked the days off together as it got closer.

We started out last week full steam! Ethan was doing such a great job. I was so proud of him, it was like riding a bike. We have been staying home and running around naked (well Ethan is any way!) This works wonderfully since he doesn't like pee running down his legs. Here's Ethan chilling all natural.

We found daddies old GI Joe guys and had lots of fun playing with them. Every time Ethan had to go he got up and went.

Once he got into the habit of listening to his body, I started having him wear his new undies we got at Walmart and he only had a few accidents.

The next few days we took a few little outings here and there and he did great.

Hanging out and lots of one on one time with mommy helps a lot.

Making pizza's with glue and scissors and glitter it was lots of fun.

Ethan gets a scoop for his ice cream chart when he goes #2.

And we made this big chart for the whole family and everyone gets a sticker when they go potty. He loves the fact that he can put his sticker anywhere he wants to.

One day I was helping Ethan pull his underwear up and he stood strait up and hit me right on the nose and cheek. It hurt sooo baaad! I got this lovely shiner from my "baby". It's barely noticeable but it did hurt.

It's under my right eye.

By Saturday we thought Ethan was ready to go run errands. We went to Sam's Club, and the park, then Best Buy. Ethan stayed dry the whole time. In fact while we were at the park he stopped playing and darted towards the restrooms and Eric could hardly keep up with him. Turns out he really had to pee! (Thank goodness boys stand up!) And on Sunday at church Ethan stayed dry the entire 3 1/2 hours. We took lots of potty breaks and helped him succeed.
We can finally rest at night. Ethan is doing a great job.

I will continue to focus on the one on one time and by this Saturday when I have to go back to work we should be smooth sailing.

You might be thinking "Why the big deal"? Well I have worked on this for a long time with Ethan and was starting to think it was going to be 2012 before I got him out of pull ups. This is my first item on my New Year's Resolution, and hopefully in one more week or so I can cross it off and never look back.
