We have felt so blessed to have been able to bring both babies home from the hospital, but our little Reagan has had multiple doctor visits already. We had to take her every 48 hours to be weighed so they could be sure she was gaining weight and not losing. On the first visit she went down, on the second visit she stayed the same and on the last visit she finally went up. We were told we didn't have to bring her back till her 2 week visit. On top of bringing Reagan to the doctor for weight checks she had to see a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon because on the first day in the hospital the pediatrician doing rounds felt a click in her hip, this is common in twins and especially since she was transverse and breech.
Bringing the babies home has been a wonderful experience. The boys just adore them, they want to kiss them all the time and love to hold them. I'm nervous for school to start back up though because they'll no doubt be bringing lots of germs home.
Britton and Reagan.

They both know that they have to wash their hands before they can hold them or touch them. I just hope they remember every time.
Ethan and Riley.

On the 22nd we had a little photo shoot at home with the boys and the babies.

Mommy and Daddy managed to get in on a few shots too. I'm still getting used to saying we are a family of 6. I keep saying things like "the four of us" and then correcting myself, or worse, being corrected by Eric.
We put the girls in their Christmas Dresses.

Then we dressed the boys up and headed to the mall to see Santa. Our first outing as a family of 6. I must say it went pretty well. The girls love their car seats and slept the entire time.

Ethan needed a picture to make sire he was, in fact, the BIG brother.

Thursday, December 23rd, was a pretty relaxing day. We hung out at home and didn't do much. I made an appointment with the doctor because I had been having
pain in my neck and headaches. Turns out I had "Baby Neck" I laughed out loud when the doc told me that. It is a true condition that new moms get especially moms who are breast feeding. I told him I had twins and he told me I had it times two then... He was a chiropractor so he gave me an adjustment and told me to use an ice pack. Then I went home to relax. I really don't know why but later in the day I started bleeding pretty heavily so I called my doctor and he called in a prescription for me to take to slow it down. Eric and his mom went to Target to get it and while he was gone it got worse. I called him to see how much longer he was going to be and he informed me that they didn't have the drug I needed and that they had just spent the last 15 minutes calling other pharmacies to see if they could fill it. They finally got an HEB that had it but I was so scared by this point that I told him to come home and get me and take me to the E.R. I really should have called 911 but wasn't thinking. I had my father in law help me to the car and waited for Eric and his mom to pull in. While walking to the car I felt really weak at first my ears started ringing and then I couldn't hear anything at all. Once I sat down in the car I started to feel better. It seemed like the longest drive ever. When we got there and started getting checked in I passed out for a minute or two. I was so scared, I couldn't stop crying and I thought I was going to die. They finally got everything under control but I had lost a lot of blood and had to be admitted to the hospital. I'm so thankful for my mom and Eric's mom. They jumped right in and took care of the kids, I knew the whole time that my kids were being taken care of.
On Christmas Eve my doctor was doing rounds and informed me that my blood count was very low and that he was going to give me two units of blood and that I would have to stay another night. I instantly started crying, I didn't want to spend Christmas in the hospital, especially the babies first Christmas. Finally I came to terms with it and I knew everything would be fine. The nurses all recognized us and were so sad that we had to be back in the hospital for Christmas, but they all took such good care of me. By far the best hospital to be in if you have to be in the hospital.
I must say I love my husband more every day, he decided to go to Best Buy and get a cheap web cam and bring his laptop to the hospital. He went home and hooked our other web cam to our t.v. and we were able to watch the boys open their presents on the laptop. They could see us on the t.v. and even though I couldn't be there it was a great Christmas. It truly brings new meaning to Christmas for us.
My doctor came around 10:00 a.m. on Christmas morning and he said I could go home. He gave me all my special instructions and the nurses pushed our discharge paperwork through as quickly as they could. We left the hospital at 11:30 a.m. and were home by noon. We didn't tell them we were coming home so they were all surprised to see us walk through the door.

The other day I was messing around with the girls and taking pictures of them. I thought this was a cute idea. Reagan.
Riley.

Daddy is just beaming... Eric is loving our new babies too. He still just sits there and stares at them. Amazed that there are two, and they are ours...

We all love our babies so much. The best Christmas presents ever.

Tuesday we went to see the Orthopedic Surgeon, he did an ultrasound on Reagan's hip and found her little hip sockets were both shallow. She has to were this little harness every day, all day and all night. She can only have it off for two hours a day. We have to go back every two weeks to have the size adjusted and in three months they'll do an x-ray to see how it is doing. She doesn't seem to mind it, and we are so happy that they caught it now and not when she started crawling or walking. I think it would be a lot harder to keep her happy, and it would probably take a lot more to fix it. She's a trooper, just like her mommy. She's going to be just fine.
The girls also had their two week check up and are growing rapidly! Reagan is now 7 oz above her birth weight and gained 9 oz. since her weight check last week. She now weighs 5 lbs. 7 oz. Riley is also above her birth weight, she weighs 6 lbs. 10 oz.. Thats 9 oz. more than her birth weight.
Well its 2:38 a.m. , Reagan just finished a bottle, and Riley is beginning to stir. Eric is peacefully sleeping and I'll be up for at least another 45 minutes. Why is Eric sleeping? Well because I didn't wake him. Why didn't I wake him?? The same reason I didn't wake him when it was just one baby. This is what I miss, the midnight feedings. It will never get old for me, even times two. I have two wonderful moms under this roof at this time, though they passed a great test this past week, I only enlist them when I have to, this little mama is in heaven taking care of these two babies.
Good night everyone!
