Anniversary: Day 2

After we had breakfast in Fredericsburg, we went to Johnson City and took a tour of the Lindon B. Johnson Ranch. It was so much fun. This is the house that LBJ grew up in...
His grandparent's house about a mile down the road...
Tons of beautiful trees...
His old cars and the house they lived in, that he bought from his aunt and uncle...
Also known as the Texas White House. The house is under construction and you can't take pictures inside but it was so cool. They donated the house to be a National Historical Park but not until they both passed away.
When Lady Bird Johnson died they started to change it back to the way it was when he was president. She had updated the decor after he died but put everything in storage so it is all coming out a little at a time to be restored.

The little white house (below) was where the secret service lived from 1963 until 2007 when she died.
After that we visited the still working ranch on the other side of their property. It was pretty cool.

There was a lady there making yogurt and cheese with he fresh milk they got that morning. She also made butter and collected eggs from the chickens. You know? The usual farm stuff...
We made an awesome discovery too. This is the cabinet Eric's mom has (below) it is called a secretary and was her mom's.
They had one just like it in the ranch house and we thought it was cool that his mom has the same one.
Eric's dad also has a pie safe like this one and we thought that was cool too. I don't have a picture of the one his dad has though because it is in storage and is in pretty bad shape.
We had a great time in Johnson City.
